I wrote a book!Learn More
While at anchor in the South Pacific, I wrote a book about my voyage. From daunting weather to relationships sweet and sour, wild waves and boat repairs, this very personal memoir shares my many challenges, my search for harmony with nature, and how I come to feel the unity of all things. The team at Patagonia Books, along with illustrator Daniella Manini, bring my story to life with amazing art and four photo galleries. It’s a work of enormous love, with the intention to inspire others to follow their hearts, protect our planet, and live out their dreams. Ask for it in your local independent bookstore, order online, download as an e-book, or listen to me read it as an audiobook. While at anchor in the South Pacific, I wrote a book about my voyage. I’m excited to share the personal story of my voyage with the world. Book available now!

Miti Miti comes to life…

Posted on Dec 10, 2010 | One Comment

In exchange for the use of photos of Ripple over the last 5 years, Achilles, Inc. bestowed a brand new inflatable upon the Voyage of Swell! Neither the maze of driving in L.A. from the warehouse to the air freight shipper, nor the 5 hours I spent talking the dinghy through customs in Tahiti subtracted […]

Ripple to the Rescue, our final adventure…

Posted on Dec 5, 2010 | 10 Comments

Amidst a flurry of days spent cleaning and organizing Swell, the tradewinds ran out of breath… I had a hunch that the windward side of the island might be good. It was like an itch you can’t scratch, so I had to go…I grabbed my board and shoved a pareo, a pamplemouse, and some sunscreen […]

Posted on Nov 29, 2010 | 10 Comments

…hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend! I walked up into the mountains to celebrate my gratitude for all that is: The air is still cool as I lock my bike and start up the trail. Ahhhh, Ā morning light glowing on the hillside! Lovely!! I wander along, still a bit sleepy… The trees are standing […]

Posted on Nov 19, 2010 | 2 Comments

I crossed paths with old friend and custom surfboard shaper, Jake Moss, while bouncing around San Diego. We exchanging greetings–small talk over a basket of raw figs–and then suddenly Jake’s eyes lit up. ā€œI’ll be right back,ā€ he said, disappearing quickly out of Seth and Helen’s house where we’d spontaneously rendezvoused… He returned a few […]

Diggin Up My Sailing Roots: Meet Great Uncle Jim

Posted on Nov 11, 2010 | 5 Comments

My Great Uncle Jim is 97 years-old. He’s my paternal grandfather’s brother, and true to the Clark genes, he’s as tough and cantankerous as they come. It had been two years since I had made a visit to see him on one of my prior trips home. I’d been curious about my sailing roots and […]

Play Your Instrument! Passion Paves the Path… “That was Easy!”

Posted on Nov 4, 2010 | No Comments

Beyond my immediate family, I started taking notice of other people I knew who were pursuing their passions, too. My buddy Mark is doing stand-up comedy alongside his teaching job, Sean is a proud new Dad who carved a niche for himself shaping surfboards and started Forward screen-printing company. Blakeney is charging full steam ahead […]

Happiness and the pursuit of passion?

Posted on Nov 2, 2010 | 3 Comments

It seems clear to me that there is a direct ratio between happiness and the amount of time we spend pursuing our passions. Following my surge of inspiration to follow my heart, I noticed the people RIGHT around me who were putting themselves nearer to their passions, making a difference in their own lives, and […]

The Little Voice that KNOWS EVERYTHING

Posted on Oct 30, 2010 | 4 Comments

I have decided to put my ‘book project’ on hold for a variety of reasons…I won’t go into them now, but basically I realized that the time isn’t right. My heart wants my focus elsewhere! I want to live more in the moment, figure out more immediate ways of making positive environmental impacts, and put […]

Push Don’t Pollute! Sector 9 cures my ‘land-sickness’.

Posted on Oct 26, 2010 | 4 Comments

After a chat by phone with the immigration office in Tahiti a few days before my planned departure from California, I found out I’d be staying a little longer than expected…I couldn’t go back for another month! So with some extra time, I got to do a few things that I never get around to […]
