I wrote a book!Learn More
While at anchor in the South Pacific, I wrote a book about my voyage. From daunting weather to relationships sweet and sour, wild waves and boat repairs, this very personal memoir shares my many challenges, my search for harmony with nature, and how I come to feel the unity of all things. The team at Patagonia Books, along with illustrator Daniella Manini, bring my story to life with amazing art and four photo galleries. It’s a work of enormous love, with the intention to inspire others to follow their hearts, protect our planet, and live out their dreams. Ask for it in your local independent bookstore, order online, download as an e-book, or listen to me read it as an audiobook. While at anchor in the South Pacific, I wrote a book about my voyage. I’m excited to share the personal story of my voyage with the world. Book available now!

Home Sweet Home?

Posted on Dec 20, 2009 | One Comment

The sky is fading orange in the west as I wander about the deserted boatyard to find a ladder and haul it over to Swell. I struggle to set it vertical and slowly mount the 10 rungs up to the deck. All looks as it did when I left…oh so good to be home! I open the companionway door, haul out the cushions blocking the entrance, and slide down into Swell’s belly. It’s hot and musty and at once the rejoicing slackens a bit…there’s stuff EVERYWHERE…where do I start?

Hmmm…what’s all this? Someone’s been nibbling on my handline? And who got into the cacao powder? And what are all these little turds? It appears as though Swell wasn’t as lonely as I had thought while I was away…I can’t deal with this tonight…I wander over to the restaurant across the street and slowly savor  a poisson cru avec lait coco…Lucky for me the sky is clear tonight. I pull out the pool mat and snuggle up under the blanket of a million twinkling sky diamonds.
