Changing Tides Foundation
Five of my incredible waterwoman friends (seasters) got together in 2016, and wanted to do something to give back to the world. With shared passion for helping others, traveling, and raising awareness about sustainable living, cultural diversity, and the power of sisterhood–they started Changing Tides Foundation. Becky Mendoza, Anna Santoro, Leah Dawson, Leane Darling, and Jianca Lazarus are a powerful team. When they asked me to be on their board along with experienced and passionate, Sam Bennet, I couldn’t have been more honored.
Changing Tides Foundation was born from the simple idea that the world would be a better place if we were all given the opportunity to give back. We feel it is our calling to help others, and We do this by teaming up with local organizations globally to raise awareness and address social, environmental, health and safety concerns in the places we visit.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between you, the traveler, and the causes on the ground. We are paving a way for you to SERVE NATURALLY, adding life-changing experiences to your journey.
By collaborating with eco-minded brands, we ADVENTURE CONSCIOUSLY, leaving behind the smallest footprint possible, in an effort to preserve the beauty of the places we travel to. Please visit our SHOP to support the cause while also supporting the health of our earth.
Because TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER!
Here is a gorgeous video of their visit to Bocas Del Toro to set up a program with local youth that others can get involved with too.

June 26, 2012Liz,
It’s been a long time since I saw you last… in Del Mar probably 15 or so years ago when I was living with Seth. I’ve followed you from time to time on your voyage and I’m beyond inspired. You’re an amazing ambassador of the ocean.
I’m going to Pepperdine University getting my MBA and I’m writing a paper on Patagonia. Let me know if you have any time to answer some questions about your experience with that company and your experiences out at sea.
I’m sure we’ll do some more catching up too. Take care.

September 19, 2014Hi Liz,
You have awoken something in me that I haven’t been inspired to think about for many years — taking the leap, being brave, being healthy, being active and above all, being happy.
Are there opportunities for people with zero sailing experience to do long-term voyages like this, and if so, what are they? I need to wake up and start living again. I really wish I loved my life as much as I love yours.
You are incredible.
Peace,
Nareen
